Air filtration and worker safety in food processing
In the food processing industry, air quality control and filtration are essential to maintaining safe working environments and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Although this sector may appear to present fewer risks, food processing and cooking operations generate dust, smoke, and fumes that can contain substances harmful to workers' health.
These airborne contaminants may include polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), aldehydes (such as acetaldehyde, acrolein, and formaldehyde), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), and aromatic amines. Prolonged exposure to these substances can lead to respiratory irritation, allergic reactions, skin disorders, and, in more severe cases, chronic health conditions.
